Man, this is a really strange craving but, (LOL my patient is talking in his sleep!) for the last month or two I have been really wanting to build a life-size papier mache elephant. I haven't done papier mache since I was a kid but I know it's pretty easy. It's just a matter of finding a bunch of newspapers and then mixing some water with flour, etc. The only thing I haven't fully thought through is what to use as the base forms. I figure I can find some of those big cardboard tubes like the ones inside rolls of carpet for the legs and cardboard for the ears and maybe some ducting for the trunk but I'm not sure what to use for the body. It's a big space to fill up.

Uhh, WTF?

Should I be concerned here? Should I call a Dr.?

I'm pretty sure I never imagined reading about how my husband wanted to build a life-size papier mache elephant.

But, if we could fill it with candy and then wack it, that would be cool.

Maybe it's your inner-Mexican coming out.

For some reason I'm reminded of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, when Roy (Richard Dreyfus) builds the Devil's Tower in his living room out of chicken wire, mud and shrubs.

You're going to come home one day and Demo's going to have the living room filled with paper mache, cardboard tubing and roadkill.

Good luck.

Okay, I came in here to tell him what a freak he is but that made me laugh and laugh, so forget him. HI SHAN!

I know, it's so strange. I don't know why! But I am compelled to do it!

You know where following strange, baseless inner urges to make things leads?

Here.

elephant
Just make sure to incorporate something useful into the elephant, maybe have a small fridge inside where a keg fits, and then when you pull the tusk beer comes out the trunk...that would be cool...Jason
