SETI started using a brand new radio telescope array yesterday, the Allen Telescope Array(as in Microsoft's co-founder Paul Allen). I think it's awesome that so many people take this so seriously. Enough so to build a whole telescope array to search for signals from outer space. It's a slim chance to find something real but I think it's more than worth the work to look for them. If we find intelligent life elsewhere, it will change everything. Heh, I had a dream the other night that I heard some group SETI team was the first to find a real signal from extra-terrestrial intelligent beings and I was all pissed off because I wanted it to be ME! :) At least I'm still heading up our Straight Dope team.

I KNOW I have told you this before, but it is my greatest hope that you are the first person to have contact with aliens ... mostly because I think it would blow their little alien minds.

If it is out there I hope it is found and I have no problem with people looking for it (though I personally wouldn't prioritize it), but I am curious.

If evidence of other life is found, what exactly is it you think would change?

Yeah, well, at least I broke 100K. Took me long enough. Seems like something's up with BOINC today, too.
