My warrior is coming along pretty nicely. I always thought warriors were a dumb class(not the people playing them, just the class itself) because it seemed SO boring. "La la la, I run around and hit stuff with a stick! La la la! Heal Me!" Now, I'm really liking playing one because they are so HARD to play well. Harder than all the classes I've played much so far. With all the other classes, you can pretty much pick what spells or abilities you want to use and everything will come out ok. With a warrior you have to do certain things or everyone will DIE. It's also a lot like parenting, "Stop hitting that so hard! Hey, you, come over here! Go this way. Do this do that. Ok, I'll come and get you out of that little mess you got yourself into...AGAIN. Not because I want to, but because I have to. Because you're a baby and I'm the adult." Stuff like that. The one thing I really hated was chasing monsters down but intervene has made that pretty much a thing of the past.

I tanked my first heroic instance last night. It went well, but I was with a pretty good group. I am just below the mystical recommended 12k armor/12k HP/490 Defense for raiding, but I expect to get there within a week. Right now I'm mostly trying to quest for money to finish out my blacksmithing and run heroics to get the nethers I need to make my Blazeguard. I figure I'll just tank heroic Ramparts 20 times or so. Maybe another low level heroic, like Underbog. Also trying to wrap up some questlines that have good pre-raiding gear. Tanking definitely has you doing a lot more research than any other class, too. "Where can I eek out another few HP/def/etc?"

So, what I'm saying is, Flyp, I take back all those bad things I said about you(not really).

Do people even bother rolling MALE Draenei?

I don't think I want to level a warrior. Healing is stressful enough (esp with an undergeared group or a pug), tanking is worse. I never thought it was too hard until I ran an instance once with a tank who had a sensitive mic that would pick up his clacks of his keyboard... and so I actually had the rare opportunity of watching him tank while listening to him hit his abilities... and OMG he was spam clicking ALL THE TIME.

BTW if you are having trouble eking out your stats one really good option is to look at +resilience gear from arena/BG. Typhous figured out that +resilience can be swapped out for I believe it was +def up to X points because of the ability for +res to minimize crushing blows, I think it was.

I'll have to go and find out what kind of math he came up with.

Other than that, if you can run heroics, run them as often as you can. Those badges will help you gear up really nicely.

Yeah I had no intention of ever rolling a warrior, but that seemed to be what Justin's guild needed, so I rolled one. It's actually been quite rewarding. DPSing is fun, but healing and tanking are the crucial roles. I always enjoyed that triumphant feeling of healing through a boss fight and tanking gives you a similar feeling.

That's interesting about resilience but I don't have the commitment necessary for arena. Maybe I'll look into BG gear. That's how I decked Clo out pre-BC.

Vince read:

Reads:

and another I found http://wow.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=386261
I had also heard somewhere that resilience is not as effective against pve targets due to a cap on crit% or some bs things like that and it was for PVP only. What is true in that nature I dont know.
Grats on your warrior. I just made my 3rd 70. Got a peck.... err I mean a Dwarf hunter and yes I play on what most a-holes call a care-bear server. Never did understand the whole pvp server and being worried about being ganked lol.

I asked the MT in my guild to try to explain it in writing. You cannot swap out all +Def gear for +Res gear, but he calculated out that by introducing some +Res, he was able to mitigate crits and he was able to balance out his gear in such a way that he could be fully geared for Prince and Nightbane. He's now trying to figure out how he's gonna add more HP for the latter ZA bosses--although in my opinion he's fine. In our last foray, we weren't ready because not all of us had read the strats in advance, and we had a player who wasn't fully geared (a couple of Kara and PVP and the rest in blues). The gauntlet-type encounters there are brutal and people in blues just get shredded in there.

Don't feel bad about rolling on a PVE server. I don't have any PVP toons, as I still enjoy solo questing and farming. I just got my fifth 70 this month (a frost mage) but while it's great not having people ask me if I can heal, is REALLY BORING. Sheep-frost bolt frost bolt frost bolt frost bolt-sheep-frost bolt frost bolt frost nova ice lance ice lance frost bolt. that's all I do. Bleagh. I think my favorite has to be shadow priesting.

Yeah I did first two bosses in ZA on my warlock, Def not the easiest to do. Hell im just happy I got my 20 slot bag haha. Im pretty much all pvp gear on my toons(dont like raiding that much anymore) and I seem to do alright as a DPS'r in instances. AS a Tank like you explained, yeah I can see how they cannot afford to lose the +def.

Thanks for the references. It's still all Greek to me, heh. ;) Most of my toons are on PvE servers. I had a friend on a PvP server which is why I rolled this char on there. It's actually pretty cool most of the time. I do get ganked by rogues about every 3-4 days when I'm questing though, heh.

I think out of all my 70s I love my hunter the best. They just have the ultimate balance of power and survivability.

I was having a discussion about tanking with a couple guys this morning. Tanking is almost as frenetic as playing a rogue, in terms of button pushing, and almost as bad as healing in terms of having to pay complete attention to EVERTYHING. And you're right, the game's not built in a fashion that makes it possible to incorporate non-tank warriors into the group. I don't think even my old Arms build would keep my aggro up reliably, and forget about Fury completely.

I still have issues with Intervene.

I haven't logged on in almost a month, and truth be told, I haven't missed it much. Like you, I need nethers for smithing, but after that (and possibly a few more Kara drops), I think I might suspend my account until the xpac.

Is Thrall's Chosen doing anything other than Kara? TK? SSC? Gruul's? Mag's lair? Seems like doing those would change things up a bit and keep things interesting. I've been looking at your warrior a lot in building my spec and looking for gear, so thanks. ;) I just wish it was possible to do inter-faction transfers so I could have ALL of my toons in one guild. That way I'd always have something to do.

Yeah, we started doing Zul'Aman this year after the holiday lull was over. It's scheduled for Tuesdays, so now Wed/Thu are Kara night. A lot of people are burned out on Kara, but ZA is tougher so people are discouraged from doing ZA unless they are already fully geared. It was funny... we were short one person last week for ZA so we grabbed a lock who is still gearing up in Kara (and has a couple of Kara items but everything else in blues) and I swear, he KEPT DYING. Over and over and over. It's pretty amazing how a few points here and there can actually make that much of a difference.

I don't think we have the energy to build up a full 25-man raid, and the AoG guilds that we have talked with about eventually raiding (Spectrum Rage, and Saiko Sages) are still only taking baby steps in Kara, so we're way far ahead of them still.

JAWN COME BACK!!!

Do any of your kara groups need a priest or hunter? ;)

Yes, sign up anytime. Or just show up around 5:45pm and ping Malineros or Typhous. These days we have to look around to get 10 people, so you'll be able to take whomever. Unholy may be a bit undergeared for some of the latter bosses but we are having to shard stuff so you may as well be there for potential gear.

Oh, and if you do the daily Heroics and find yourself with a surplus of badges, nethers go for 10 at the vendor.
