Blind tasting

I set up a blind tasting tonight with the three main wines I'm working on. The '07 cab sauv, the '07 cab sauv 2nd and last year's merlot. I did 100% on each then a couple 50-50 blends with the cabs and merlots and some other permutations, 8 all together. Turns out Shan's favorite was the 2nd cab and mine was split between the primary and secondary cabs. The second is a little fruitier and aromatic and the primary has more backbone. We blended those two together and...wow! We both agreed that one tasted great! So that's going to be the final blend. I've got about 28 gallons between the two so that's going to be 11+ cases of wine coming soon! The merlot has some aging still to be done.

Good, because we will need help drinking all this wine. I have no wine cellar to keep it in. ;)

I'm thinking about calling it Doppelganger, since it's two of the same wines, made from the same grapes.

I found this cool place near my house that has wine making classes and supplies. I would love to learn. I love wine. wine. love.
