So, I just deleted about a hundred names off my AIM buddy list. I remember at one point I had about 250 people on there, in my "Golden Age of the SDMB". It was interesting going through that list, seeing names that were small time hits, medium time hits and big time hits. I never really made it to big time status, but there was a point where I had medium hit status, but I did have a wide "reader" base. That was a lot of fun. I enjoyed those times. Anyway, I had a strange feeling about some of those names. What are they doing now? They were known, to a certain static, community, for a brief moment in time. Now they may be known in another community, not known or dead for all I know. It's just kinda strange going to the SDMB and seeing the new names and then thinking about the old names that used to be there. Like when you visit the house you grew up in and there are new people living there. That always creeped me out. Like, "Hrrrmm, THAT KID is sleeping in MY bedroom. WTF? He has no idea of all the secrets that room held, the joy, the pain, the child-like mystery there is in all sorts of mundane things." Well, the truth is, he has his own set of those things which I could never understand.

I lost track of where I was going with that. I hate that.

I lived in this one house until I was 6 before moving to the one my parents still have.
A few years ago, I found out that a friend of a friend lived in that house and I got to go visit it. It was so...small! Every room was small! I mean, the layout was the same, but, how do you describe it looking at it all from a 5-10 perspective rather than a 2 foot perspective?
My brother's room had tons and tons and tons of stairs to get up to it. I remember that. But when I went back there were only 6. That can't be right! Who shrunk the staircase?

I don't remember my point either.

Not to bring you back to topic or anything, but I've cleaned out my AIM list too, for the most part. I think I'm down to about twenty people, about 5 of which I talk to on a regular basis. It's kind of scary.
