For those people who don't monitor news, new LJ posting limits have been implemented. The limits are:

Free users: 3 posts per 24 hour period.
Early adopters: 10 posts per 24 hour period.
Paid Users: 20 posts per 24 hour period.

Comments don't count.

Edited to add: LOL, ok, now Brad just turned it off again. Details are here. He said he'll turn it back on again in a few days.

That's someone who created an account when LJ first started up.

Dayum.

This may make me get a paid account. I don't post more than 3 times in one day OFTEN, but I'll be annoyed if I can't.

Good heads up but I think it's about time. Seriously, they give away too many free accounts. I'm sure I'll be an unpopular girl for saying that but it's true.

I wish they'd have a "premium" service for people who want to host their own icons so they can be bigger and other things.

Six months for $15.00 is quite a deal. If someone can't afford that, they should be out getting a part time job instead of being online.

Ehh, don't mind me, I'm PMSy

you aren't PMSy ... you're just a cranky bitch. lol that's why i love ya.

anyway, i'm with you. i think that people spend more than that for a night of entertainment. why can't they scrape their pennies together and support their lj community? nothing in life is free.

For real, if they don't like it they can piss off.

I saw in that post there was something like 660 comments with a lot of people bitching. Do they think it doesn't cost to have a site like this?

no kidding. have you seen the graph that shows how few paid accounts are actually held? it's ridiculous. if i had my way i'd kick all free users to the curb. i have 5 websites and it costs WAY more to host them than it costs to purchase a 1 yr lj membership and some people use lj as their "website". personally i think lj should have more perks and charge more.

I agree completely. The people who were saying, "You should give free users more stuff so they'll want to pay!" makes no sense at all. If you give them more features for free, why the hell would they want to pay? People who want something for nothing annoy me. This site costs money to run, but other people should be paying for you? Piss off.

I TOTALLY agree. Something similar was happening with another web site I used to visit and there were people bitching about, "I can barely afford FOOD!" And I was, like, "Wait, you can barely afford food, but you're paying for an ISP and you're spending all this time online? WTF?"
