I posted this link a while ago, but I'm going to do it again because Shan just pointed out something to me. MARS! It's very bright and clear to us tonight. Take a look outside if you can and check it out.

On August 27, 2003, at 09:46:18 UT (2:46:18 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time), Mars will be closer to Earth than it has been for over 50,000 years. During this "Close Encounter of a Red Kind" Mars will be a beautiful sight in the sky for anyone who looks up. And, because it is so close, it is also a great time for spacecraft to visit the Red Planet.
