I stayed up way too late last night catching up on the Tour. Sadly, Some of the Alps and the stage that ended in Marseille had been deleted by the DVR(or Shannon) so I missed those, but that's ok, the Pyrenees stages were totally awesome to watch, even with the knowledge that Vino and Rasmussen were going to get canned. Levi finally showed his worth, and could have won at the Col d'Aubisque if he wasn't acting as Contador's domestique. And Contador gives me a real hope for future Tours. The next Indurain? Maybe!

In other news, I'm going to take a class and get my ham radio license tomorrow. I've wanted to get one since I was a kid and I really want to learn how to use it for when we're eventually out on the open sea. I've read nothing but good things about staying informed of weather and other news on maritime ham nets.

I think that is a big fib and that you really want a ham radio to live out some bizarre Pump Up the Volume fantasy.

lol, you know me too well.

Ooh, ham radios seem like such a great hobby to have. I wish I was mechanically inclined (or that my husband was!).

You know, you really don't need to be mechanically inclined to be a ham anymore. The license I am getting doesn't require you to learn morse code and all the radios are digital now. You just need to learn protocol, etiquette and push buttons(don't let a real ham know I said that). ;)

Haha, you're secret is safe with me.

My hubby still couldn't handle it. he's the smartest man I've ever met (literally) but he can't figure out our phone needs to have the OFF button pushed for it to hang up after a call; you can't just set it down on the sofa or table and expect it to KNOW you're done talking. Dork.

Levi finally showed his worth, and could have won at the Col d'Aubisque if he wasn't acting as Contador's domestique.

Or if Rasmussen hadn't been there, seeing as how Levi came in second to him.

The next Indurain? Maybe!

Only because he's Spanish. The racing styles are completely different. Contador's much more like Pantani (though hopefully without the drugs), while Indurain was more like Levi's race has been this year: slow and steady but without much flair. He'd kick everyone's ass on a TT, but rarely won other stages. In fact i think one year when he won without taking a single stage. Impressive, but kinda boring. Contador's anything but boring.

"Or if Rasmussen hadn't been there, seeing as how Levi came in second to him."

Not necessarily. The thing was, Levi kept trying to do all these breakaways on top of already booking up the hill. If he could have just rode normally with Rasmussen he would have beat him in the final sprint.

I agree Contador is like Pantani, but Pantani wasn't a TDF-winning franchise like Indurain and Amrstrong and like Contador could be. He was an awesome climber and could sprint up mountains like Contador does, but he was a tiny man, whereas Contador has the body to work the flats and sprints too.

True that. I almost said Contador is like Pantani or Armstrong, but i'm not sure he has the TT capability of the latter.

Still, the man is young, and he's not horrible at the TT.

The guy i really love this Tour is Soler. I love how Phil Liggit said he looks like he should have a basket on his bike.

Yeah, Soler is pretty badass. He's a powerful rider for sure.

D'oh!

I'm waiting for the headline: "127 non-French riders implicated in doping scandal. Yellow Jersey awarded to Cristophe Moreau."

Turned out to be an unfounded rumor, according to what I just read (sorry, cant c/p). Soler rode today, so...

You see today's yet?

Oh yeah, wow, do you think they'll race it out tomorrow? Or will Levi get busted doping? :P
