I've been cooking a little more often than usual lately. I smoked a tri tip a couple weeks ago(for 6 hours, over jack daniels wood chips) that came out kind of tough, so I stuck it in the fridge. A few days later it had firmed up and dehydrated a little and I sliced it thin on the meat slicer and it was SO GOOD. I really think I'm going to make one like that soon and just keep the whole thing in the fridge to age it a bit for a few days before cutting it open at all. Yumm. We ate it with some cheese and wine and really good prosciutto and stuff.

I made some teriyaki shishkebabs(sp?) last night that turned out really good. Well, they always turn out good. People who camp with us often have probably had them before. I didn't have any sesame seeds so I put in a little sesame oil. Tasted a little different. I didn't think it was quite as good but they were just as addictive.

What else? I made Salsicca e Pepperonata with some really good italian sausages we got at Oliver's(gourmet grocery store). It was actually supposed to be anchovies and pepperonata, from a recipe I got in one of Mario Batali's cookbooks, but I waited too long and the anchovies went soft(that's what SHE said, LOLZ).

I know there's more, I grilled something else the other day, but my mind does not obey me.

I haven't been having luck finding wine grapes so far. The lady that was supposed to get me some backed out on me and everything I've seen on Craigslist have been either too expensive or at the wrong time. Our local brewing/winemaking store, The Beverage People have a listing of people selling grapes, so I'll head over there Friday or Saturday to get some numbers. I gotta get this started soon because time will fly, cruch will be over and I'll be making wine from juice pails again. That's not horrible, our wine from last year is really good, I just want to try making it from grapes this time.

No call this weekend, so I want to try to go for a ride or do something active instead of playing WoW all weekend. I'm starting my second week of Couch to 10K running today. I love this program because I always go out and run too hard and then quit, but this is so easy to follow. Especially with the awesome podcasts by Robert Ullrey and my new shuffle!

Meat slicer. That's a good idea. I swear, 99% of sliced meat available is crap.

Yeah, I love that thing. And the model I have is just some cheap, plastic Oster brand one. I love it so much I'm thinking about getting one of the nice metal ones.
