I dropped off my cable box at lunch and discontinued cable service. It was just too expensive for the amount we used it. I restarted Netflix(if you don't have me friended already add me!) I'll probably get a Blu-Ray player pretty soon, since that battle has ended. I've been waiting for an addon to come out for the xBox ever since HD-DVD was shitcanned.

I don't know if I updated about my braces, but I get them put on on the 30th of this month. Woot!

Hmm, my patient is here and he has a "service dog". A chow chow? WTF?

PS: Apple, I DO NOT want to install Safari, no matter how many times you ask me to. Shitheads.

Did you can your cable internet service as well? I only ask because the latest issue of PC World has a good article about all the crap Cable internet providers are starting to do and planning on doing to those who use "excessive" bandwidth.

One of the things I never liked about cable ISPs is that the more customers they got on their networks and the more usage upon those lines, it would slow them down. This is happening now to them and they are going to either charge you per Mb over your quota or cut you off. DSL is the way to go and Dish Network or Direct TV really are better TV options than Comcast any day! :D

As much as I hate Comcast, the cable internet is FAST, so I'm not going to drop that just yet. I know the arguments and pitfalls of cable internet, but having been a DSL subscriber and a cable subscriber, I've found cable to generally be superior in both bandwidth and latency. TBH, I've been waiting and praying for FiOS to hit our area, but it doesn't look like it's coming anytime soon. If I find there is a slowdown, bandwidth limiting or penalties, I'll be switching back to DSL. Who do you get DSL through? Is it still Covad in SR?

I never had any problems with cable internet when I had it. And, in Santa Barbara DSL was dreadful. Now that FIOS is coming, and DSL is improving in a lot of areas I am surprised that the cable companies are starting shitty business practices. Seems like a bad plan.

I don't understand why anyone on a Windows machine would use Safari. If not for people having ipods, I would barely understand the widespread use Itunes. In my opinion Apple does not make great Windows software.

I'm using Sonic actually. I have found their DSL pretty nice considering I'm living right at the edge of the service area. I would prefer a faster speed if I were closer... yes, this is a big downfall of DSL but I REFUSE to pay for cable from all the problems I and others I've known have had with it.

However, Sonic's website has been advertising a faster speed to the entire Santa Rosa area regardless of where you are at. I was told I had to call or go in to talk to a sales person about it and just haven't found the time because I'm current in an apartment setting. I'm guessing its likely some kind of dish or antenna service as they are advertising being able to "spread" the network and pay for part of your service by setting up your own public wireless access point for other Sonic customers. I did see a similiar to this company, Meraki: http://meraki.com/

The big thing I've liked DSL over Cable has been how less restrictive DSL has seemed lately than Cable. But the possibility of FiOS!! *drooooool* My dad worked for years with GTE, now Verizon, back in the MidWest and they have many areas that with all the new construction they just immediately put in fiber connections all over the place in new homes. My dad has told me how freakin FAST it is, that its amazing. Puts Cable to shame apparently. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I agree with you completely, and I'm getting the shits with them offering it to me every Friday at 7pm. Now more importantly, why the fuck are you listening to Mariah Carey?
