Wow, the smoke from all the fires is amazing today! Visibility is less than 1/4-/12 mile. From street level you can't see any of the mountains around, even the close ones. It smells great, like a campfire, but the air is thick. It reminds me of one of my favorite books, Earth Abides, where most of the population is wiped out and fires are left to take their course in CA and other places and areas just fill with tons of smoke. It's neat, and eerie.

I dunno, I lived in Escondido, about an hour north of San Diego for fourteen years and never saw anything like this. Well, maybe except on those rare days that the LA smog somehow got down to us.

Oh good, it's one of my favorites. It's older, but I think it's still sound.

This reminds me of living up around Yosemite (Oakhurst and Coarsegold area) and having a slew of fires a few years back. It was like this for weeks, and even after the fires where out you'd drive through areas and still be able to smell a hint of the smoke around.

Its a bit surreal and unnatural feeling with this pale, orangish sunlight casting bluish shadows on the ground. I hope it goes away soon, as its killing my allergies!

Blech. When will it end?
