OMFG. So I got an email from Bank of America about this low rate balance transfer and since I normally keep a pretty high balance on my credit cards I was going to do it. I don't know my cc number though because I don't physically have the card and I don't receive paper statements(I just use it as overdraft protection). So, I called into their call center to get my cc# or to make the transfer over the phone and spent the next ten minutes explaining to the idiotic lady what a "balance" was.

She kept insisting that she could only transfer the balance from my B of A card to my other cc. The short version:

"Ok, listen. On my cc with you, I have an available credit of $X and a BALANCE of $Y. You understand this right?"
"Yes."
"Now, you are going to transfer $X to my other credit card and my BALANCE on this card will be $X + $Y, right?"
"Yes."
"Ok, so now you understand that you are not transferring a balance from my B of A card to the other card right? You're transfering my balance from the other CC to this CC."
"No, sir I can only do balance transfer from your B of A card to the other car."
"OMFG!!!!!! /click"

This is sad, because I just did the same thing--I have a balance on the only card I use and haven't paid it off at the rate I wanted to, for various and sundry things. So I finally responded to the Bank of America offer (i have had this card for years without ever using it). I want to minimize interest while I pay it off. The BofA person could not have been more helpful. She even asked what the APR was on the other card and reduced the terms on the BoA card so it would be competitive if I still have a balance when the balance-transfer terms end. I wish you had the person I had. Lord.
