Well, I went to my first day of hippie school on Saturday. The hottie from the informational meeting is not in the class, but my fears of having all oldies were allayed, so it equals out. The class is pretty even spread, in two groups of 15 students from someone in their mid 20s to someone who appears to be in their late 60s. There are actually quite a few people in their 30s, so that's cool. Saturday was mostly informational, although we did discuss our first reading, The Stranger and someone got me riled up by calling Meursault "A monster", to which I had to come to his defense. Everyone is really cool though, even that guy and I think it'll be a smooth two years with this group, even though I'm still terrfied of giving presentations. Going to SSU on the weekend is really chill, too. We pretty much have the campus to ourselves and we just meet in one office as a group for the whole thing. Completely opposite of the JC experience, where you have to look for parking for 45 minutes, the bookstore doesn't have the books you need, there are a million teenagers acting like douches, etc... Speaking of the JC, turns out my history class wasn't canceled after all, just the first class due to a family emergency with the instructor. That's good, because none of the other classes I need were open this late. Anyway, if you don't see much of me, it's not because I am playing WoW, it's because I am reading and writing papers like crazy. Definitely going to be a lifestyle adjustment. Maybe I can adjust the other things in my life that need adjusting during this time too. Like to stop being a fat fuck.

Yeah we have a few people in class who are teachers or are going to get their teaching credential after this program.

Well, I don't know if that part will help so much as the motivation of being busy all the time. Last time I was going to school full time, I was also working full time and pulling call and I got so much shit done during those two years, including fun stuff. It's that old thing that, the busier you are, the more time you find you actually have. Like, for example, the six to eight hours I spend playing WoW every day might get two or three hours absorbed by school, but then I STILL have an extra three hours that I'm sure I can spend an hour of at the gym. Gnome seine?

My sister's doing hippie school too, at Dominican. Only it's REALLY hippie school, because her major is called Sustainable Communities and she's going to be studying organic food or whatever shit I don't know.

Good luck, dude. It sounds pretty cool.

Also, I just noticed that you have a tag for Jeff Mockery. That's hilarious.

What class is it? Even hippie schools may have interesting stuff.

And I would like to go to one! I've been in the SEC far too long.

Well it's liberal studies and there are basically four, ten unit classes; one for each semester. This is the program.

Wow, it looks cool... Although you're right, it reads hippie... I like the second and last units... they seem to be the most beneficial...
