Man, I think I got some sick fish about a week ago. All my fish are dropping dead. What makes me feel bad is that I'm kind of happy about this. I love having a fish tank but I hate taking care of it. I'm kind of a germophobe and sticking my hands in the tank really squicks me out. If all my fish die then I finally have a good reason to get rid of it for good and recover a small amount of living room space.

In wine news, last year's cab is turning out really great! It's amazing but the "second wine" I made from the pressed pommace of last year's cab tastes quite good right now. Once I figure out how much merlot I've got from this year's batch I'll probably bottle up some of the second wine. The original cab is just where I want it, highly tannic and built to age. It's lost some of its early fruit, but I think that will come back when those tannins link up in the bottle. It should be perfect on its own or to make a Bordeaux blend with the merlot. I wasn't going to make a second wine again because I tasted the one I currently have a few months ago and it lacked body, but the way it is now I think I will make another second from the merlot pommace. I also bought a 26 gallon American oak(medium toast) barrel to age/oak some wines.

Since moving to Houston, this is the first time in years that I haven't had an aquarium. It's weird but also a relief. Especially since anything I did have would be toast after 10 days without power, anyway.

Maybe your fish aren't sick, but merely have bad headaches. You should give them some Alka-Seltzer (two tabs per fish). This might make them feel better.
