Little fuckers! I got stung in the back of the neck doing something extremely stupid (spraying bees with the hose to get them away from the trash can). I was like, "Ahahaha, drown you swarming little bastards!" and then noticed that like ten of them were flying around my head so I dropped the hose, screamed like a little girl and ran inside, but it was too late! Drat! Now I am stung AND have full trash/recycle bins. Maybe the homeless guy who always collects our bottles will take them out.

Also, the San Francisco symphony officially went into my phone spam list today. They call me like every week, even though I have told them NOT to call any more. Fuck you SF symphony!

What kind of bees? I lol'd at the visual of you dropping the hose and screaming like a girl into the house.

I think they are honey bees. They are living in the dryer outlet vent, which got busted a few years ago, so it's disconnected in the interstitial space of the house. I'd like to call a beekeeper to have them relocated (they've become pretty precious due to Colony Collapse Disorder) but they would have to get into the walls to do that and I'm not about to pay for that, so I'm just going to RAID the fuck out of them tonight and then fill in the vent with spray foam or something like that.

aww, poor bees.

But for reals, I understand. That shit can't be cheap. I was reading this page (because I got all interested in the whole process) and I sure hope you don't have some crazy huge hive like these people describe!

Good luck, I hope that works. Jimmy (the pest man, coo-coo-katchoo), says it can be very difficult to get rid of bees, short of the professional extraction.

I mentioned your situation to Jimmy, and he said you should definitely have the bees removed professionally, because if you leave the hive in there the honey can attract other pests like ants. Because they are in your dryer vent it shouldn't be that expensive, around $200. If you call around, and ask, in these difficult financial times you should be able to find a company who will take monthly payments against that balance - he says his company would.

Ah thanks for asking Laurel! Unfortunately that $200 does not cover knocking out and repairing the wall, so I am just going to go with the murder by poison option right now. With the amount of bi-annual ant infestations we get every year I'm sure they can clean up the honey and bee carcasses tout de suite! :P

I appreciate the help though!

Oh yeah they are guilty too, for sure. But at least they don't call me, uggh.

I'm surprised that I gave some money to Equality California during the Prop 8 campaign and as near as I can tell they've never given my name to anybody else and only called once since.

I stopped giving money to KQED as punishment for the near decade of harassment after I donated in 1999.
