You've been busy little bees, haven't you?

I'm trying to catch up with all the entries I've missed since friday. Phew!

We went camping at Gualala Point Park(pronounced 'Walala' ;) this weekend. (Hi Barry!) We went expecting rain and boy did it rain. After a crazy drive down HGWY 1 (during which Kyle puked his guts out a few times) Shan, the kids and I got to the park around 2, set everything up and by 4 there was a light drizzle going on. By 6 there was a heavy downpour. Sometime between there (I never wear a watch when camping) Alex and his friend B got to the site. I felt kind of bad because they had to set up in the rain, but they were pretty quick and we had a fire and dry place ready for them when they finished. We sat around and shivered, tryed to stay dry and shot the shit for a while. Later, Alex whipped up a kick-ass dinner of tortellini stew. The perfect thing to warm you up and edify you against the cold! We sat around chatting it up for a while and then everyone hit the tents. Alex, make sure you let B know that we really enjoyed his company!

The next day, Shan and I made breakfast and then Alex and B took off for another hike before they headed home. The rest of the trip turned out to be dry and sunny, can you believe it? We headed down to the beach and played smashball, whiffleball, hit the can with the rock, try to kill yourself with a plastic boomerang, beat up on Kyle, don't step in the dogshit, ford the river which is a foot deeper than when you originally crossed it because the tide has come in and other fun games. It was still a little chilly, so we decided we'd go into town for lunch and warm up a bit. We found out that Gualala's restaurants are only open for specific periods like breakfast 8-11, lunch 12-3 and dinner 5-9. Unfortunately it was around 3:30 when we were in town, so we had to settle with the bar menu at the only restaurant kind enough to let us inside. It was damn good nevertheless. After that we headed back to camp to hang out. Then we sat around the fire, drinking and talking (and telling ghost stories).

The next morning, Shan baked a blueberry muffin-cake in our new Coleman oven and it turned out great! We broke camp in good time, drove home, cleaned up and put away everything, showered, ate dinner and still had time to watch Mission:Impossible and The Blair Witch Project(am I the only person in the world that gets creeped out by that movie?) before heading to bed. All in all another great weekend. I am already scoping out campsites for next time. ;-)

Dude- you freaking rock! I wanna camp! Makes me want to go clean out the pop-up camper right now!

If you're nice, I'll take a picture of me in my "Happy Camper" outfit. It's a dark green shirt with a yellow smiley face guy wearing a green fishing cap that says "Happy Camper". Scarily enough, I bought a matching real green fishing cap to match. When I wear it, everyone thinks I'm retarded and I don't care.

Glad you had fun. If this weather stays decent here in NY, I may be ready to camp soon, too!

Coleman oven??? Oh, do tell!

Sounds like you guys had a great time :D I've been stongly hinting to Gentleman Friend that camping is something that we NEED to do.

Re: :::perk:::
Oh, really it's just a little silver box that sits over your Coleman stove. It works really well though!
