Here's another thing:

What kind of IDIOT doesn't read the information sheet given to them before a medical procedure?  I'll tell you what kind.  3/4 of my patients, that's what kind!

AAGHHHH and they just told me I have another patient this morning that they didn't tell me they added on!  TODAY IS.....STUPID!

God, I hate that. A fucking seven year old could figure out the shit we give them. Yet everyone (even especially the MDs) look at us like we're aliens and say, "What do I do with this?"

Stupid moments like that, I just refuse to be polite. I mean, how could I give that a dignified, courteous response without being a bad person?

Yeah, the lady that inspired that comment came in saying, "Well I didn't know I was going to have to do THIS! I didn't know it was going to take this long!"
So I said, "Did we give you an information sheet when you scheduled this test?"
"Did you READ it?!"
"Well, I was busy."

"Well, you should be prepared for people making mistakes!"

Yes, we did that by highlighting, color coding, and itemizing everything you need to do, dumbshit.

I am amazed at your willpower to resist following that up with, "You can read, can't you?"

And if you want to get all fancy-pants when they get indignant, simply give them the quote by [um, someone famous and smart] about how choosing to not read is the same thing as not being able to read.

And you don't have fun with your patients when they don't read the information sheet? "Will you glow? Didn't it say that you'd be glowing for a week on the information sheet we gave you? And that the glow would cause all your hair to fall out?"
