Yosemite Update

We talked about a Yosemite trip a few months ago. Shan and I are still planning on going May 24th-29th. The first day to make reservations for that time period is January 15th but I just wanted to remind people who were interested. I'll definitely post again in early January and when I make our reservations.

In other news, I've got the camping bug. I don't think we've been camping since the ill-fated 4th of July camping trip, but I think I have shaken the "leave the house and it will get robbed" trauma enough to go again. Anyone interested in camping the weekend of the 9th? I'm thinking we might go to Sugarloaf SP or Samuel P Taylor SP.

Yosemite in early June was awesome last year - I bet it will be just as good a couple weeks early. You get the spring runoff at its peak, so all the waterfalls are huge.

Yeah the first time we went was early May and it was just amazing. The waterfalls are just insane all around the rim of the valley and yet it's plenty warm. In fact, it was so warm we ran out of water on our first attempt at half dome, lol. I went back in september and it was pretty dry and cold. It was still beautiful but I'll always go in May from now on.

Re: <3
Yes, it is. A very expensive hotel room.

The Ahwahnee

It is a gorgeous place though.

Re: <3
There's a few others hotels as well, if the Ahwahnee is a bit beyond your reach.

We stayed at the Evergreen Lodge just outside the main part of the park. It's on the road to Hetch Hetchy reservoir. There's also a campground along that road. The Lodge was a pretty good place to stay, considering that all we were looking for was a place to sleep and take showers. The restaurant was a little fancier than I really wanted to go to after hiking all day, but the food was pretty good.

Yeah, I might be stuck in a time warp, but I cannot be the only one whose first thought was--- Demo is meeting up with Babe?

I'm up for Yosemite for sure. Not so sure about coming up. It's kinda... cold.

I may be up for the 9th, I doubt Lani would be.

Yosemite has several potentially impacting factors but I want to go.

i used to spend my summer working right outside of yosemite. it can be gorgeous this time of year- emtpy- but cold.

i also spent many many many nights at Sam P Taylor park. Get a big site near the creek!

Color me jealous. It's too cold here to camp in the winter.
