All of a sudden my wireless connection just shitted out and I couldn't restart it after multiple connections and fucking with stuff. I was frantically searching for the wireless card's software when Shan got home. She was like,
"Then I won't be able to connect because I am connected to the wireless"
"No, you're hard wired."
"I think I'm connected to the wireless."
"OK, see that wire? That plugs directly into the router?"
"I mean the router."
"GOD! Well then duh, yours will be fine!"
"Well it's not working, maybe you need to reboot it."
...
I unplug and replug in the router...everything works...
...
"OMG"

I could have sworn it was my card because I can ALWAYS see at least 2-3 other wireless networks on my card but none were showing up at all! This is definitely an argument for trying an algorithmic approach at troubleshooting instead of an iterative one though. ;)

The ideal troubleshooting route:

Step 1: "Honey, the internet's not working!"
Step 2: Call ISP: "There are no known service problems."
Step 3: Go to CompUSA
Step 4: Buy new top of the line computer, router, ethernet cable, 25" flat panel monitor, and a few games you've had an eye on.
Step 5: Point at the pile of old computer stuff and say "yep, that was the broken component."
