Well, the Half-Ass Atkins/Haskins/AA diet didn't work. Well, not that it didn't work, but I fell off the bandwagon and started eating taco bell every night. So, Shan and I are doing the REAL Atkins starting today. Well, at least the real Atkins for the induction phase, and then we'll probably moderate depending on exercise and stuff. Let's see if I can go two weeks without beer. Oh man, the pain. I say I make it until Friday at least, but even that is pushing it. I HAVE to do this though, because I am a fat bitch and I'm sick of it. I used to be awesome, now I get tired going up the steps. Fuck that noise. I want to be able to hike all over Yosemite when we go in May without dying. And I want to ride the Wine Country Century again this year and maybe even do the retarded triathlon that I hate, just to say I can still do it.

But. I also want DONUTS, NACHOS AND BEER!!!

It's really not that bad. You DO get to eat carbs, you just learn to limit yourself, as in the "smaller quantities" you suggest.

I actually felt better doing it, and no, we didn't eat nothing but meat, eggs, and cheese.

Aye. Having lost weight on Atkins I can vouch for its effectiveness. Most people assume it's "eat all the eggs, bacon, and butter you want but eat no veggies or bread" but that's hardly the plan. You are allowed proteins within reasonable quantities but the plan is quite stringent on how much veggies to eat, and it's really down on processed (read: white) starches and refined sugars.

The plan DOES have you eating less... but by controlling what types of food you eat, you aren't just eating "3 french fries and half an ice cream cone" but focusing on things like deep-colored vegetables, chicken breasts, and whatnot.

not if you're warmed up by the cardio! just bike to taco bell! and don't deprive yourself of the carbs! and maybe like.. swim or play lots of DDR or something instead if you can't bike. don't they have treadmills at your workplace???????

That's a good point. Why doesn't he use the treadmills at work in between clients patients?

Yeah but it's easier to just eat bacon all the time and do nothing!

Good luck! It sucks and it's no fun, but that's the price one pays. BTW, Justin and I are going to try to make the Yosemite May trip. We have no idea what our schedules will look like then, but we'll do our best.

The thing most people don't get about atkins is you DO eat carbs, you just learn to take out the large amounts of white sugar, processed flour, and other high carb foods, and slowly introduce yourself back into eating lesser amounts.

We're actually doing something similar. We're not doing the whole induction phase (I started today), but we are eliminating most of the processed starches and sugars out, you know, all the crap that omes with fast food (I think it's partly both, the carbs are delicious, so your body screams "Sugar!" and compels you to gorge on the fatty processed meats within.

I ate MUCH healthier doing atkins than I did before or after. I felt better, and I lost weight, but you can't be lazy, just like you can't be lazy with any sort of eating habit change.

Hey, did you ever get the branding iron?

I saw it today on SkyMall and thought of you...

I feel ya brother. I've been contemplating a New Year's resolution to get more exercise. I'm tired of feeling so out of shape.

Eat Taco Bell in NY or NJ. That should help you drop a few pounds.
