Well I finally got the kids for a couple days(some pics here). It was really, really nice. REALLY nice. It's always reassuring to know that nothing has changed in our relationship, especially after this last stint of not seeing them for a whole year, which is the longest we've been apart. Obviously a couple of days is not enough, nothing is enough, but it was enough in that we all got to see that nothing has changed and we all love each other just the same. We saw Charlotte's Web together(sniff). I got them their presents(they all got nanos(I got new school pics and a gift card to B&N)). We went out to eat a few times and the rest of the time we spent filling their new iPods with music and messing around at home. Last night we went to Occidental and went to Negri's, an old school Italian restaurant that is kind of a traditional place for our family. God they're all getting so big and so smart and wonderful. There was bickering between them as always, but nothing over the top. A great couple days and now I'm just a little melancholy but really happy overall.

ETA: Oh yeah I forgot to add. One of the highlights was making the kids "sweedish pancakes" this morning, on request. I dug out my mom's recipe on its old, stained 3"x5" card and churned out a couple batches. Man, the kids were so stoked. Sweedish pancakes, btw, are basically just crepes(dunno how to do a caret 'e') with butter and powdered sugar. My mom used to make them for my sister and I all the time, and they were especially great when camping. I'll have to make them for camping or a BBQ sometime. Even though I'm not really into the religious holidays anymore, it's really great to have some traditions carry on.

Time to resume my vacation drinking binge. Good thing I had a break there, though, because I already finished off the keg I got last week. Jesus! Luckily I have a full case of Pacifico and a 12er of Sierra as backup.

I was gonna put this comment on your flickr but decided against it. How long does it take to put a damn sweatshirt on or is that the new style?

Heh, he was putting it on but I kept telling them to stay still so I could take another picture, lol. I just thank god he doesn't wear his pants around his knees like other teen boys.

Crêpes. Yay!

Thank you. The restaurant is great and Occidental is just such a nice, quaint little town with a neat history. The staff is old school Italian and they can come off as a little rude sometimes, but the food is awesome!
